Bergmann Associates was responsible for the design of the replacement bridge over the tributary to Thatcher Brook. The new precast concrete Conspan Bridge is supported on steel H-piles and replaces a jack arch bridge that was posted for 3 tons. Bergmann Associates provided preliminary through final design services for this project. Our work included survey and mapping, environmental permitting, wetlands evaluation, SHPO coordination, hydraulic analysis, development of the Design Approval Document, preparation of final plans and construction support. The project also included highway approach work including raising the profile of the roadway in a sag vertical curve to improve sight distance. The unusually high velocities in the stream required extra heavy stone filling for scour protection.
