Project Details

Bergmann Associates has teamed with Francis Cauffman Associates Architects of Philadelphia for the design of new Chemical/Biomedical Engineering Science Building at RIT.

This facility will house the new chemistry and chemical/biomedical engineering departments, create lab capabilities in support of these programs, strengthen research initiatives related to these new departments, and provide for incremental teaching space.

It is envisioned to feature a lobby space with large expanses of glass that will maximize day lighting to its interior as well as use renewable building materials.  This project is targeted for LEED Gold and will contain teaching and research classrooms, small animal vivarium, general university teaching spaces and food services.  Also part of the project includes a new "green" data center which will provide mission critical IT hardware capability to supply the rapid expanding campus technology needs. The building will form the final element of a new quadrangle joining several other research buildings.
