A message from Bergmann CEO, Pietro (Pete) Giovenco

A message from Pete2

Our nation is witnessing a movement. One that is causing us to open our eyes and have true awareness of the injustice experienced by George Floyd and countless other individuals throughout history. I’ve spent a great deal of time reflecting and listening and know that it is time that we all speak up -- at home, in our communities and at our places of work.

As a leader, I need to speak up to set an example for my company and for all our employees across the United States. Bergmann’s Values include Integrity and Ethics and we expect all employees to uphold this through these key behaviors:

  • Always treat others with respect; is fair and objective
  • Ensure all employees feel included regardless of their age, gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, physical conditions, cultural background, country of origin or other facts of identity”.

These are not just words written on our website. We need to live them.

I am also part of humanity, and I feel sorrow and pain for the mistreatment of others. There are many injustices and inequities that people face and it is incumbent on us all to find ways to make this world a better place for everyone. It is our shared responsibility to be true to our Bergmann Values and not tolerate anything less, for a better and just world starts with each one of us, at home and work.

Bergmann's leadership team is actively exploring how we can continue to support organizations that promote equality and are identifying steps we need to take to truly engrain our values and behaviors related to diversity, inclusion and understanding across our workplace. We will do more.

Lasting change requires us all to be open minded and open to learning and listening.

As I told our team earlier this week, my door is always open. And my door is open to anyone who wishes to share their story and discuss how we can come together to make lasting change happen.

Pete
