Bergmann’s grant writing team thus far in 2020 has secured funding for five railways under the Consolidated Rail Infrastructure and Safety Improvements (CRISI) program for FY19, which was recently announced. The funds granted a total of $42.5 million for use in a variety of infrastructure improvements including crossing and signal upgrades and bridge replacements.
In this round of applications, Bergmann provided grant writing services to nine railway clients, achieving a win rate of 55.56 percent and earning 17.1 percent market share of the total grant dollars awarded for this round of CRISI federal funding. Among the clients receiving grants were Delmarva Central Railroad, West Tennessee Railroad, Western New York & Pennsylvania Railroad, and Lake State Railway Company of Michigan.
“The U.S. economy relies heavily on railways to connect people and goods across our country. As we navigate through unprecedented challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, Bergmann is here to assist our clients and get ahead of the recovery efforts to sustain their businesses,” said Carmen Garozzo, Bergmann's National Rail Practice Leader. “Our clients have a lot on their plates and we are dedicated to doing everything we can to support them and help them come through this time stronger and more resilient than ever.”
In the last 10 years, Bergmann’s grant writing experts have secured over $65 million in grant funding, with a win rate of over 81 percent. Based on this extensive experience and success in helping railroad clients apply for federal and state funding programs, Bergmann is one of just four firms selected by the American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association (ASLRRA) as a preferred provider of grant application services.
Bergmann offers a full range of rail services, from grant writing, to preliminary planning and feasibility studies, through final design and construction inspection. The firm’s grant-writing capabilities extend to any size railway and transit company under any classification and encompass all phases of the application process, including environmental support services, permitting, preliminary engineering, cost estimating, cost-benefit analysis, and any other elements unique to a particular grant program.
