Bergmann awarded a three-year contract with CSX

Bergmann’s Rail Group has been awarded a three-year, multi-million dollar project with CSX as part of the Champlain Hudson Power Express (CHPE) project. Per the CHPE website, “the project will play a key role in the state’s energy transformation, lowering greenhouse gas emissions, creating jobs and generating billions of dollars in new investment in New York’s economy while delivering low-cost renewable energy to New York state.”

This project includes the construction of approximately 50 miles of an underground power transmission line to be constructed along CSX’s corridor. The power transmission line will consist of two High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) cables installed within conduits and installed via open trenching and horizontal direction drilling. There will also be one bridge attachment.

This new project is a natural progression of Bergmann’s relationship with CSX’s Real Estate Group and represents an expansion of the firm’s services to include preliminary engineering and full-time construction monitoring services for large-scale longitudinal occupancies.

Preliminary engineering will begin early in the second quarter of 2022, with construction to begin in the fourth quarter of 2022 and proceeding for an estimated two years.
