Bergmann Celebrates 40th Anniversary

2020 marks a special milestone for Bergmann, 40 years providing architecture, engineering and planning services to clients across the nation.

“Every day, our team members find inspiration in a variety of sources that lead to unique solutions, whether it’s designing new work spaces, taking a new approach with community planning initiatives, or solving a transportation challenge,” said Pietro (Pete) Giovenco, President and CEO. “We take great pride in celebrating our people, their creativity and the impact they have on our clients and communities, especially at this important milestone in our company’s history.”

The company intends to honor this milestone with employees throughout the year, leading up to the company's official anniversary date on November 3rd.

Commemoration starts in January when the firm honor its original founders, including name founder Donald J. Bergmann, P.E. who passed away on December 25, 2019.

Don founded Bergmann Associates in 1980. The firm was a product of his vision for a new approach in consulting engineering; one tailored to client relationships and full-service solutions. The firm started as a civil and transportation design company with a handful of employees, and over 4 decades has grown to a 400+ person full-service A/E/P firm with 15 locations across the Northeast, Midwest and Atlantic regions.

Don was known for pushing boundaries, seeking out innovation and never settling for the status quo. Ken Avery, a Practice Leader in the Infrastructure group who started with the firm in its early years, said it well: “For most people, ‘seeing is believing’. For Don, and those he inspired, ‘believing is seeing’. He constantly put us in those places that are typically uncomfortable for engineers, but he instilled confidence in us through his inspiration and enthusiasm.”

Don’s influence lives on today and will be reflected in the stories shared throughout the 40^th anniversary celebration.
