Bergmann Celebrates Completion of New State of the Art Radiopharmaceutical Facility in Springfield, New Jersey

Earlier this fall, Bergmann celebrated the completion and grand opening of Evergreen Theragnostics’ new radiopharmaceutical manufacturing facility in Springfield, NJ.

The project was completed in collaboration with Hodess Cleanroom Construction and marks the first full ground-up project completed by Bergmann’s Science, Technology & Industry (STI) practice. The practice was formed in June 2020 with Bergmann’s acquisition of Johnsrud Architects, which brought specialized architecture capabilities to the firm’s existing research and manufacturing engineering expertise.

Bergmann partnered with Evergreen to produce a video commemorating project completion and highlighting the unique considerations made throughout the design process that led to a successful finished facility. View the full video here.

Design and construction of this first facility for Evergreen required close collaboration and creative solutioning to meet a series of unique challenges, including:

• A “flipped” building layout to maximize useable space and optimize the footprint on a tight site location, while meeting town planning board requirements.
• Placement and coordination of major electrical equipment, such as generator and mechanical units, on roof to accommodate extremely tight available space constraints.
• Complex electrical and mechanical system designs to support redundancy of critical business operations and ensure proper filtration for radioactive materials.
• Virtual collaboration with national and international partners during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Evergreen hosted a grand opening in September 2021 and has deemed the project a great success.
