Designed by Bergmann for Buckingham Properties, the building has been selected by AIA Rochester as a contender for the 2022 Design Awards!
This annual award ceremony honors architectural projects in the greater Rochester region that illustrate principals of good design via the AIA’s “Framework for Design Excellence." Each entry in the 2022 Design Awards is required to illustrate how it incorporates a minimum of three framework measures.
In the award submission for 260 East Broad Street, Bergmann’s design team illustrates how the building incorporates:
Bergmann’s team provides the following as part of its design rationale for the building and location within downtown: “We recognized the importance of the site both in its scale along the vehicular entrance into the city, but also as an integral component to the city’s fabric. In response to this, the design team created several schematic elements that meet the users of this building and adjacent site with varying experiences...our designers created multiple opportunities to integrate outdoor spaces that extended normally interior activities outside and further integrated with the city’s public exterior amenities and parks.”
260 East Broad Street welcomed its first tenants and residents in October 2021.
Winners will be announced at this year’s ceremony on June 9, 2022 at the Eastman Museum. Leading up to the ceremony, AIA Rochester is presenting projects under consideration for an award for public vote as part of a People’s Choice Contest fundraiser.
