Nathan VanDrunen, PE, has joined Bergmann as a practice leader, specializing in transportation construction. He is based in the national architecture, engineering and planning firm’s Grand Rapids, Michigan office. VanDrunen has over 21 years of experience in surface transportation, including overseeing new bridge construction, full road reconstruction and bridge rehabilitation.
From strategy development to project scoping and planning to construction management and more, VanDrunen’s work spans across all aspects of construction projects. His experience includes more than a decade in various positions at the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) where his work entailed bridge inspections, asset management, constructability reviews, project scheduling and construction engineering as well as serving as the chair of the Grand Region safety team and a member of various statewide committees.
VanDrunen is a Michigan Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ) Certified Storm Water Operator and is certified in safety inspection of in-service bridges. He earned his bachelor’s degree in engineering (civil concentration) from Calvin College.
