Engineering-architecture firm Bergmann Associates has moved its headquarters to Tower280 at Midtown (280 East Broad Street, Suite 200, Rochester, NY) where they occupy 60,000 sq. ft of Class A office space on the entire second floor. The first official day of business in the new location was Monday, October 3, 2016. It is Bergmann’s fourth corporate office location since its founding in 1980, all of which have been located in downtown Rochester, NY.

Thirty-six years ago, the original seven founders began the firm in the Terminal Building at 65 West Broad Street. Today, Bergmann’s 185 Rochester based employees (400 total U.S. staff) represent the commercial anchor at the newly renovated Tower280. Many Rochesterians hold fond memories of the building in its previous life as Midtown Plaza, the country’s first indoor, downtown shopping mall.

Bergmann’s relocation from First Federal Plaza was guided by an internal committee of 25 employees who evaluated space alternatives in the downtown market considering many factors including: building prominence, design, location, parking, safety, amenities, access to mass transit, etc. The committee assessed such considerations as work habits and company brand and wanted a space that fit into Bergmann’s image and work styles. Overwhelmingly, Tower280 emerged as the obvious choice. Bergmann’s interiors’ team designed a contemporary environment and engaging atmosphere where employees can interact professionally and socially with each other, with clients and with guests. The design team’s guiding principle was to support the employee’s overall performance, productivity and wellness. They successfully embraced this ideology by creating zones or distinctly different work spaces throughout the office that fit into four categories – collaboration, connection, mobility and focus.

Quotables:

Tom Mitchell; CEO, Bergmann Associates - “It is evident that the midtown block and Tower280 is poised to become the centerpiece of a rejuvenated downtown core and Bergmann is thrilled to play an important role in its revitalization both from the vantage as a corporate citizen as well as a design firm who has shaped much of its surroundings.”

Lovely Warren; Mayor, City of Rochester, NY – “Bergmann Associates’ move to Tower280 is a great first step in the revitalization of this historic building. As we strive to bring more jobs, safer and more vibrant neighborhoods and better educational opportunities to our citizens, we appreciate companies like Bergmann Associates, Morgan Management, and Buckingham Properties who are helping to make that vision a reality.”

Pete Giovenco; President & COO, Bergmann Associates - “Bergmann has called downtown Rochester home since our inception in 1980 and this city has become part of our company’s DNA. During this time, we have enjoyed strong partnerships with the local government, the county and many other clients and institutions. We originally began discussing our needs with Larry Glazer nearly three years ago, and today, his vision to transform the tower has become a reality and our new home.”

Ken Glazer; Managing Partner, Buckingham Properties – “As the first commercial tenant to commit to Tower280, Bergmann shares our dedication to downtown’s revitalization.”
