Sean O’Rourke, AIA, LEED AP, has been named principal of design at national architecture, engineering and planning firm Bergmann. In this company-wide role, O’Rourke will further develop the design competency at the firm and lead creative efforts for many of the organization’s signature design projects. O’Rourke will remain based in the Conshohocken, Pennsylvania, office, in Bergmann’s Atlantic region.
In his more than 30-year architecture career, O’Rourke has developed a design specialty for retail, commercial development, mixed use, higher education and municipal projects. He works with national developers on projects from New England to Texas. He helps clients successfully translate their brands into design realities throughout the project implementation process. In his new role, O’Rourke will apply his expertise in these areas to client projects across the national Bergmann portfolio.

O’Rourke earned his bachelor’s in architecture from Virginia Tech and Master of Science degree in the same field from the University of Pennsylvania. He serves on the board of directors at Bergmann, an employee-owned firm. A resident of Philadelphia, O’Rourke is active in many community and industry organizations, including the Friends of Schuylkill River Park, Grays Ferry Triangles Committee, International Council of Shopping Centers and South of South Bridge Street Neighborhood Association. He often presents at community forums and publishes articles on design topics.
