Bergmann recently embarked on a substantial expansion project for Forward Air Corp, a national ground transportation and logistics firm based out of Greeneville, Tennessee.
A multi-disciplinary team of architecture and engineering experts from across Bergmann are partnering with Bergmann’s sister company, DJB Builds, to provide full-service design and construction services to expand Forward Air’s national hub in Columbus, Ohio.
The Columbus facility was built in 1994 and has served as the central hub for less-than-truckload operations. Rapid growth in recent years exceeded capacity at the facility, leading Forward Air to purchase 11 acres adjacent to the terminal to allow for expansion of its yard for parking and trailer storage, along with creating a cohesive campus for 550+ area employees.
This multi-phase project kicked off in 2020 with Bergmann performing a feasibility study to assess property renovations to achieve the desired expansion goals. Phase one continued with building demolition and reconstruction. Phase two is involves expansion of the 45,000 sf terminal, with construction starting in early 2021. The project is scheduled to extend into 2022.
