Founded in 1897, “the RES is a multi-disciplinary society uniting diverse disciplines to enhance professional development, foster excitement in math and science for the next generation of leaders, and improve communities where members live.” Sommerman has been a member of the RES since 2017, first becoming involved as the scholarship committee chair.
“I’m excited and honored to be president of a society like the RES, which exposes me to a lot of different perspectives,” shared Sommerman. “We have a very diverse engineering community in Rochester, and I’m thrilled to lead this group in helping to make engineers more visible and to learn about what is going on in the Rochester engineering community.”
