Charlie Gennaro, PE, was recently awarded the Transportation Engineer of the Year Award from the NY State Association of Transportation Engineers (NYSATE), Region 5.
NYSATE bestows this award annually on an outstanding member who shows dedication to their career, involvement in the community and involvement with the NYSATE professional organization. Charlie was presented with the award at the 2021 NYSATE and PEF (Public Employee Federation) summer picnic on July 14.
Charlie is a Senior Inspector and Office Engineer in Bergmann’s Buffalo office. Since joining Bergmann in April 2021, Charlie has provided critical support on signature projects including Allen Street Reconstruction Project, Phase I for the City of Buffalo; BNMC Ph IV Virginia Burton Street Rehabilitation Project, City of Buffalo; Michigan/Ohio Street Lift Bridge Replacement Project for the City of Buffalo.
Prior to joining Bergmann Charlie had a 16-year career at NYSDOT in the role of Assistant Regional Construction Engineer for Region 5. In this role he served in many capacities and administered contracts totaling more than $460 million for many critical projects across the region, including contracts to rebuild the Whirlpool Street and remove the Niagara Scenic Parkway in Niagara Falls, the Design-Build contact to replace I-190 over New York Power Project in Lewiston and multiple ITS contracts.
