Jayme Breschard Thomann, AICP, CFM, Senior Project Manager, has been elected to serve on the Association of State Floodplain Managers (ASFPM) Board, Chapter District 1, which includes Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, and Vermont.
Thomann, who joined Bergmann in 2020, boasts an impressive resume, bringing 17 years of resilience, land use and environmental planning experience to the Board for ASFPM, which exists to reduce flood loss across the nation by promoting education, policies and activities that mitigate losses, costs and human suffering caused by flooding. Thomann’s term started May 14.
“There is a great need for increased education and funding around resilience planning for communities across our region,” stated Kimberly Baptiste, AICP, government practice leader. “Jayme is a recognized expert in her field and her involvement with the ASFPM will amplify the importance of a resilience-based philosophy to mitigate flood loss while ensuring appropriate education for both Certified Floodplain Managers and policymakers.”
“Representing Bergmann as a leader in floodplain management, I am excited to interact with diverse ASFPM professionals and communicate the needs of the association’s members and stakeholders in Chapter District 1,” shared Thomann. “The chance to grow in knowledge and contribute to national strategic thinking around climate-resilience planning and design is a privilege.”
In 2020 Thomann completed her term as Chair of the New York State Floodplain and Stormwater Managers Association (NYSFSMA), and at the end of the year was appointed to the Land Use and Local Government Advisory Panel to the NYS Climate Action Council.
