The New York Planning Federation recently elected David Plante, AICP, CEP, Energy + Environment Practice Leader at Bergmann, as second vice president of the board of directors.
Plante has been serving on the NYPF board for about three years now, and in this new role will help guide the nonprofit organization’s growth and increasing programs and services to member municipalities.
According to the NYPF website, the organization has been serving as a resource for the planning and zoning community since 1937. “The NYPF provides training, educational and informational services to a broad range of members, enabling them to better assist themselves and their municipalities with development and land use decisions.”
“I think it is important for certified planners to have a strong voice in helping municipal members of the NYPF and the members of their planning boards and zoning boards of appeals, who are often volunteers, to be well-trained, well-versed in the environmental and zoning laws and receive well-rounded education,” stated Plante. “I hope to help continue to modernize the NYPF, increasing our presence online and in social media, helping to grow membership to more towns, villages, cities and counties throughout the state and assisting the staff and my fellow board members in providing the most detailed and up to date land use training for our hard-working members across the state.”
Plante is a certified environmental planner with over 16 years of experience in environmental planning and program management for energy supply, commercial/retail, transportation/rail and municipal planning projects.
His experience involves planning and environmental projects, specializing in wetland/natural resource planning and environmental and land use permitting for solar, pipeline and other building and infrastructure projects across New York and 16 other states.
“Dave is not only a technical expert in our profession and leader in renewable energy and environmental permitting, but he has proven to be a dedicated leader for the team here at Bergmann, supporting the growth of our Energy + Environment Practice and of individual team members,“ stated Andrew Raus, Senior Vice President at Bergmann. “Now, his passion for making a positive impact will stretch to the NYPF. This organization does important work for the planning community and will benefit greatly from Dave’s vision and leadership.”
