This project renovated 45,000 SF of existing building space, including the reconfiguration of spaces, new finishes, new and upgraded mechanical/electrical systems, life safety code improvements and technology improvements to the telecommunications and computer systems. Approximately 20,000 SF of existing classrooms and the gymnasium were demolished to make way for the new additions - nine classrooms, library/media center, music suite, industrial technology center, expanded kitchen and cafeteria, a two-station gymnasium and new auditorium complete with sound and lighting systems.
Site improvements were also made, including full reconstruction of the outdoor playing fields (softball, baseball, field hockey, and multi-purpose soccer/football field).
This was a very challenging project due to the complicated configuration of the existing building complex and severe site elevation changes. Project phasing was critical due to the total area that the new additions encompassed, as well as the impact construction had on the existing structure and surrounding site while school was in session.
