Ameresco-Gloversville Solar Development

Gloversville 1 optimized

Bergmann’s Solar Team Repurposed a Landfill as a Solar System in Central New York.

Located on an eight-acre capped landfill in the Town of Johnstown, NY, this project comprises 17,820 photovoltaic panels mounted four high on concrete ballasts. Bergmann performed engineering, environmental and permitting services for this new solar project, which will produce 4.98 megawatts annually and save the neighboring City of Gloversville about $1.88 million on electricity costs over 20 years.

Bergmann worked directly with Ameresco, a national energy company located in Framingham, MA, with whom we continue to expand our relationship. Once completed, Ameresco will own the solar equipment and will lease the landfill space from the city. The company will monitor the site remotely, perform routine maintenance on equipment and provide upkeep at the landfill, including mowing.

The project will participate in the NYSERDA Megawatt Block Program, which subsidizes installation costs based on the amount of energy produced.
