Amtrak Passenger Station - The Rapid

Design and engineering of a new AMTRAK Passenger Station and spur rail in Grand Rapids, MI.

Bergmann served as the Prime Architect/Engineer on the project which included a new AMTRAK Passenger Station and new spur rail from the existing CSX mainline. Our professionals provided professional engineering and consulting services required for design, engineering, coordination oversight throughout construction, and operational start up for the new station and related track requirements. Bergmann also coordinated and presided over regularly scheduled project team meetings with project stakeholders, as well as worked closely with the Construction Manager.

The project eliminates traffic impacts while the train is at the station, as well as reducing operating costs for AMTRAK on the Pere Marquette route. This addition to the Rapid Central Station completes the Interurban Transit Partnership's (ITP) original master plan for their campus by integrating rail, intercity bus and fixed route bus into a single facility.
