Innovative in-the-wet study, design and construction support for the 600-foot replacement lock on the Tennessee River.

Bergmann created concept designs and evaluated constructing the new lock using lift-in or float-in construction, cofferbox and various staged coffercell options. We provided pre-construction planning services to the US Army Corps of Engineers, Nashville District to assist development of the sequence of construction activities. We also developed potential site layouts for efficient construction operations. The feasibility studies included innovative "In-the-Wet" alternatives for the new 110' x 600' replacement lock. The float-in and lift-in concepts addressed navigation clearance issues between the existing operational lock and the new construction, as well as foundation design issues associated with difficult geo-technical conditions.

Project Highlights
