CSX Transportation retained Bergmann to manage the construction of an $18 million project to convert its existing support tracks at the Syracuse Terminal into a rubber-tired gantry (RTG) crane module, ultimately creating a new Syracuse Intermodal Container Transfer Facility (ICTF). Efficiency and the utmost in quality assurance in completion of the NYSDOT-funded project was critical given the facility’s strategic location on CSXT’s extensive North American intermodal freight rail network — connecting Central New York efficiently with points spanning the globe via the PANYNJ (Port Authority of NY/NJ) and inland ports in North America.
