Owner Representative and designer for CSXT to rehabilitate a bridge on the NYS Thruway near Albany NY.
Bergmann was retained by CSXT to serve as the owner’s representative and designer to respond to conditions flagged by New York State (NYS) Department of Transportation (DOT) in response to extensive deterioration of a bridge near Albany NY. Bergmann inspected the bridge, designed a replacement structure, provided construction phase services and prepared bid documents.
CSXT and the Town of Chatham agreed to replace the bridge superstructure on existing foundations with a galvanized, prefabricated pony-truss superstructure, providing a 14-foot wide alternating one-way roadway supported by an exodermic bridge deck and a cantilever sidewalk outboard of one truss. Bergmann worked with CSXT’s contractor in a design-build process, providing demolition and superstructure contract documents, followed by subsequent submission of all substructure modifications and approach roadway work.
