Bergmann was integral in helping the Eugenio Maria de Hostos High School create a learning environment out of old office space in the Kodak Tower Commons.
The school originally had 2 campuses, with K-6 on Zimbrich Street and Grades 9-11 at a campus on Joseph Avenue. The school wanted to add a 12th grade and move all high school students (grades 9-12) into one shared space in another part of their Joseph Avenue building. City of Rochester officials denied the school’s application to expand there, which is when they found space on the 5th floor of Kodak’s Building 10. Time was of the essence, as school was scheduled to be back in session in just 3 short months! The general contractor, LeChase Construction, hired Bergmann to do the code review and space renovation. The learning spaces take up about half of the 5th floor, with additional space reserved for expansion in the future. Students also share cafeteria and gym space on the 9th floor with building tenants.
