Strategic revitalization plan for the waterfront and downtown area of the village of Macedon, NY.
The focus of Macedon's Local Waterfront Revitalization Plan (LWRP) is improving connections between the waterfront and downtown to better capitalize on its canal frontage. The LWRP encompasses all required components, including an existing conditions evaluation, measurable goals and objectives, policy development, a future land use plan and the preparation of updated regulatory tools to implement the overall plan. The LWRP relied heavily on an extensive public input process to develop a community vision to help guide the outcomes of the project.
In addition to the required components, the LWRP also included a short and long-term build out plan. This build-out plan included specific descriptions for more than 20 projects that would enhance the Village’s economic position to take advantage of the visitors traveling along the Canal and Canalway trail. Opportunities for greater utilization of the Ganargua Creek as a recreational resource were also explored and identified.
