Mohawk Harbor

Bergmann was retained to perform the design of the bulkhead wall for the harbor adjacent to the development for the Rivers Casino and Resort in Schenectady, NY. The harbor is located on the Mohawk River and allows boat traffic on the Erie Canal to visit the development.

Bergmann also provided analysis of the impacts on the floodplain by the placement of fill and dredging of a harbor at the project site. Using the effective FEMA Flood Insurance Study (FIS), adjustments were made to the river and overbank to represent the proposed project plan and to assess impacts to the FEMA floodplain and floodway.

Topographic survey was integrated into the HEC-RAS model for both the existing and proposed conditions. Analysis of the impacts of widening the river to provide space for boat docks was performed, and an evaluation of alternative harbor designs on river velocities. Preparation of the necessary plans, reports and electronic files to support a CLOMR / LOMR, and guidance to the developer on building code requirements within the Special Flood Hazard Area were also provided.
