North Park Lake Excavation Area

The restoration and enhancement of an aquatic ecosystem in Allegheny County.

Bergmann prepared final design, detailed design review (DDR), plans, specifications, quantity and cost estimates, erosion and sediment plans, construction schedules and Engineering Considerations and Instructions for Field Personnel (ECIFP) for the aquatic ecosystem restoration of North Park Lake in Allegheny County, PA.

In addition, Bergmann provided CADD, surveying, hydrographic surveying, construction scheduling and cost estimating engineering support services, as well as civil, sedimentation, hydrologic & hydraulic and environmental engineering. Design elements included dewatering and drying of sediment, excavation, transportation and disposal of sediment, steam diversions through the lake, a sediment placement plan, equipment access ramps to the lake and erosion and sediment control plans. Additional design elements included a 400 foot wetlands protection rock barrier across the lake, coir logs and plantings to stabilize the shoreline and habitat structures such as wooden porcupine cribs, mixed stone piles and rock humps.
