Construction Support Services for the replacement of the Norfolk Southern Railroad Bridge across the Genesee River gorge in historic Letchworth State Park.

Bergmann, acting as the Construction Project Manager, provided construction inspection services, construction engineering quality assurance reviews and environmental monitoring as part of the project to replace the aging trestle structure carrying the Norfolk Southern Railroad across the 235 ft. deep Genesee River gorge in Letchworth State Park. The new 963 ft. structure made up of a 483 ft. arch span and two 240 ft. approach spans on each end of the structure constructed along a parallel alignment 75 ft. south of the existing active rail structure. Part of these efforts included an independent review and comment of working drawings and calculations detailing the proposed construction activities, as well as the oversight of American Bridge's (General Contractor) proposed erection plans for the arch structure over the gorge.

This project was featured in the July 2020 issue of Modern Steel Construction magazine, receiving a Merit Award for Major Span as part of the 2020 Prize Bridge Awards. Read more.
